South Carolina, On the Farm
Inman Farms in York, SC was owned and operated as a functioning family farming operation by the Inman family throughout most of the 20th century.
Today the Inman Farms are York’s newest agritourism attraction, inviting groups to experience guided tours led by historic interpreters explaining the role of family farms and the importance of Inman Farms in shaping western York County.
Originally cotton was grown on the Farms until it was destroyed by an investigation of boll weevil. Peaches then became the chief crop. A 1951 peach packing shed with its original packing equipment still stands today. Grapes were later introduced to the property.
