Carowinds Debuts New Double Launch Roller Coaster

Copperhead Strike, the first double launch roller coaster in the Carolinas, is the centerpiece of the improvements at Carowinds for the 2019 season. The unique coaster simulates the harrowing chase of getaway cars racing through farmland sending riders through a winding ride over a half mile of steel.

The exciting ride takes students into a roll right out of the station, then launches them into a 360 degree loop and into a series of near-miss twists, turns and flips. Before passengers can catch their breath the 16-passenger trains accelerate into a memorable hang-time loop leaving passengers wondering which way is up.

The new ride is the focal point of Blue Ridge Junction, a new immersive area inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Copperhead Strike and Blue Ridge Junction, along with a new hotel and dormitory, represent the largest financial investment in Carowinds since its opening in 1973.

Carowinds, a 400-acre theme park south of Charlotte on the border of North and South Carolina, offers 60 rides, shows and attractions. For more information visit www.carowinds.com.
