Historic Yates Mill County Park is an exciting learning environment and recreational center located 5 miles south of downtown Raleigh. The 174-acre park features diverse natural habitats and the last water-powered mill in NC’s capital county (est. 1760s).

The park offers unique experiences for individuals and groups of all ages, with educational focuses covering agricultural heritage, environmental resources and local history.

Explore the historic mill and see it in operation, work with simple machines and delve into the evolution of milling technology and food production. Adventure out into the park’s natural environs and immerse yourself in a variety of guided field excursions.      

The park’s school-based programs are age-appropriate and aligned with the latest NC Department of Public Instruction’s curricular standards.
