Explore the Intersection of History and Nature Yates Mill Park
Historic Yates Mill County Park is a unique historic site featuring Wake County’s last remaining,
operable, water-powered mill that’s surrounded by a 174-acre native wildlife refuge. This exciting learning environment is full of interactive exhibits and hands-on fun for individuals and groups of all ages.
The park, which is conveniently located just south of I-40, only 5 miles south of downtown
Raleigh, features customizable field trip opportunities covering educational topics on agricultural heritage, environmental resources, and local history. The 18th-century mill is available for guided tours from March through November.
