Andy Griffith Museum Reopens In Mount Airy

Jerry Blackwelder

Following a half-million dollar renovation, the Andy Griffith Museum is once again open in Andy’s
hometown of Mount Airy.

The Museum displays hundreds of archives from The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock television series. The theme is a stroll through various parts of Andy’s life as a comedian, Grammy-winning musician, Broadway actor and movie star.

The Museum also features a special salute to the career of Betty Lynn, who played Barney’s girlfriend Thelma Lou and currently calls Mount Airy Home.

Also, Mount Airy will again host the popular Mayberry Days Festival September 20-24.
