COLONIAL GEM

Join us for a magical evening celebrating Charlotte’s 250th Anniversary on the beautiful lawns and gardens of Mecklenburg County’s oldest home, the Hezekiah Alexander Homesite.

This signature event will feature unique food and beverage experiences – including a moonshine tasting – as well as live music and costumed interpreters to bring history to life as you explore the homesite.

Join the rebellion here in Mecklenburg Country and learn about the legendary Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. The Mecklenburg Militia, Kingsbury's NC Artillery Company, Locke's Dismounted Militia, History's Kids, Carolina Brewmasters, and Bold Missy Brewery will all be on hand to help us celebrate!


 

CITY WALKS: BELMONT NEIGHBORHOOD

Join us for a guided, hour-long walking tour of Charlotte’s Belmont neighborhood (not the town of Belmont) as part of Charlotte City Walks. Learn about its origins as a white mill village, the transition to an under-invested black neighborhood and now another transition.

The tour starts and ends at Metrographics Printing at 1003 Louise Ave. We’ll stop along the way for refreshments on the front porch of one of the neighborhood residents. This walk is about 1.5 miles and will occur mostly on sidewalks, some of which are narrow and uneven.
