Treat Your Students to the Holiday Celebration in Kannapolis
The tree has been lit and the Winterland Express has arrived signaling the annual Celebration of Lights is now underway at Village Park in Kannpolis. Your students can ride the Winterland Express through the park, take in the spectacle of more than 250,000 lights and even make s’mores during the holiday celebration.
Santa Claus will be on the scene working in his studio every night and meeting with young students to hear what they would like him to bring. Every hour the Kannapolis Singing Bears will be performing Christmas carols in the Park.
In addition, your students can ride on the unique double decker Italian carousel decorated by 1,800 lights and handpainted Venetian murals.
The Winterland Express is a three-car train pulled by an original CP Huntington locomotive. Known the rest of the year as the Rotary Express, the train takes groups on a one-mile course around Village Park.
If all these attractions weren’t enough, popular model trains will be in operation in the park’s Community Room. At least three trains will be in constant motion on the tracks. The display is interactive, allowing students to move accessories around. They can load logs, operate crossing gates, blow whistles, make a playground come to live and watch a dog chasing the mailman.
Other activities planned in Kannpolis for the Christmas season include:
