Students Ride Santa’s Train to the North Pole at the Museum of Life and Science
For it’s fortieth anniversary, Durham’s Museum of Life and Science has made celebrating the holiday season even better than before.
Always a popular event, the 2017 holiday celebration showcases 40,000 new holiday lights along with after-hours access to the Magic Wings Butterfly House + Insectarium.
A ride aboard the Santa’s Train takes students to the “North Pole” for a chance to meet Santa.
The anniversary celebration also includes:
- The “Science of Santa” activities for students including hands-on snow ploymer, simple circuits and more
- Face Painting
- Holiday Crafts
- Holiday music and light displays
- “Skate in Your Socks” on a synthetic ice rink
- Complimentary hot chocolate
- Pop-up Museum gift shop
- Snacks from the Sprout Cafe
- Visits to the Butterfly House and Insectarium
Santa’s Train makes its first trip on December 1. The celebration runs December 1-3, December 7-10, December 13-17 and December 20-22.
The Museum of Life and Science encourages students to satisfy their curiosity and sense of wonder in fun and exciting ways. The 84-acre campus is filled with both indoor and outdoor exhibits offering an adventure for students at every time.
Exhibits at the Museum of Life and Science:
Your students explore nature in a whole new way in this two-acre natural setting. They will climb 20 feet into the air to walk on rope bridges between treehouses, wade through stream beds and take in natural sculptures.
Magic Wings Butterfly House
Students gaze in wonder at the hundreds of tropical butterflies fluttering around in a lush rainfall environment.
Students learn about flight, gravity and airflow while having fun in the Launch Lab.
On the Dinosaur Trail your students will see and touch life-sized dinosaurs then search for shark’s teeth and fossilized coral in the Fossil Pit.
