Speedway Christmas Returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway
More than three million colorful lights transform the NASCAR racing oval into a winter wonderland. This year’s theme of “Santa’s Mountain” is carried out as students ride through the nearly four miles of illuminated displays.
On Thursday through Sunday during December, the infield is home to the Speedway’s Christmas Village, Younger students will enjoy the petting zoo, pony rides, Bethlehem village, crafts, games s’mores roasting and horse-drawn wagon rides. Your class will have the opportunity to meet Santa and have photos taken. They will also enjoy seeing Santa’s Workshop along with the food and holiday music.
If that were not enough, Thursday through Sunday nights also feature Movie Nights with popular holiday classics playing on the giant speedway TV. The film schedule includes
December 7-10 National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
December 14-17 Elf
December 18-24 The Polar Express
December 28-30 Frozen
The Speedway will be closed Christmas Day.

Great Wolf Lodge – The Lodge features an indoor water park, arcade, bowling and great restaurants all under one roof.
North Carolina Music Hall of Fame – Located in nearby Kannapolis, the Hall of Fame Museum pays tribute to North Carolinians who have made their mark in the music industry covering the spectrum of music genres.
Reed Gold Mine – Your students may not realize that the first gold discovered in the United States occurred at the Reed Gold Mine in Midland. Your students can pan for gold and tour the underground mine.
