FLY FISHING MUSEUM OF THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS MOVES TO BRYSON CITY, NC

Fly Fishing Museum of the Southern Appalachians

The Fly Fishing Museum of the Southern Appalachians, which opened in 2015 in Cherokee, NC, has moved to Bryson City. It is located just off the town square in the Swain County Chamber of Commerce building at 210 Main Street across from the Visitor Center. The museum's website – FlyFishingMuseum.org – provides exhibit descriptions, directions, membership information, Hall of Fame inductees, and upcoming events.

The museum is filled with exhibits and videos showcasing profiles of legendary "Stream Blazers," the evolution of rods and reels, basic knots, fly-tying, types of gear, types of gamefish, regional fishing waters, and the history of fly fishing in the Southeast. There is also a gift shop with logoed jackets, caps, shirts, umbrellas and more.

"All the miles of streams we have including the Delayed Harvest section of the Tuckasegee River bring a large number of anglers to town each year," said Chamber Director Karen Wilmot. "The Chamber is pleased to provide the space for the museum here in Bryson City. This is a wonderful attraction for visitors and locals alike."

The museum is open Monday - Saturday, from 9 am - 6 pm. Admission is free.
